Deputy Manager – Domiciliary Care

Location: Chelmsford, Essex

Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum, plus performance-related bonus.

The Role

As Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Registered Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of the service, ensuring high-quality care is delivered to every client while maintaining compliance with CQC regulations and company standards. Core hours are Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm.

This is a varied and rewarding role that combines leadership, operational management, staff development, business growth and quality assurance. You’ll play a key role in supporting the care team, managing rotas, recruiting staff, maintaining compliance and helping to grow the service.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day management of the domiciliary care service.
• Deputise for the Registered Manager during periods of absence.
• Lead, motivate and support the care and office teams to deliver outstanding care.
• Manage staff rotas, ensuring all care visits are effectively covered and delivered.
• Assist with recruitment, induction, supervision and ongoing development of care staff.
• Carry out regular spot checks, supervisions, quality assurance audits and mock inspections.
• Support business growth by helping develop new referral opportunities and maintaining excellent relationships within the local community.
• Ensure compliance with CQC regulations, safeguarding legislation and company policies.
• Investigate complaints, incidents and accidents, ensuring appropriate action is taken.
• Maintain high standards of documentation, quality assurance and service delivery.
• Participate in the management on-call rota (approximately once every 3–4 weeks).

About You

We’re looking for an organised, motivated and compassionate leader who enjoys developing people and delivering high-quality care.

You will have:

• Previous experience within a domiciliary care setting.
• Experience as a Care Coordinator, Field Care Supervisor, Senior Carer, Deputy Manager or similar leadership role.
• Good knowledge of CQC regulations, safeguarding and person-centred care.
• Experience managing staff rotas and supporting care teams.
• Strong organisational, communication and leadership skills.
• NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) as a minimum.
• A commitment to delivering exceptional care and continuously improving service quality.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
